Transfer: De Gea’s move to Bayern Munich ‘is off’ – Reports

David de Gea’s anticipated transfer to Bayern Munich has collapsed. The Spanish goalkeeper, currently a free agent after departing from Manchester United this summer, won’t be making the move to the Bundesliga giants.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, had decided to release De Gea following a series of notable mistakes during the previous season.

De Gea’s name had surfaced as a potential candidate for the Bundesliga champions, given Manuel Neuer’s injury and Yann Sommer’s shift to Inter Milan.

However, Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of Bayern, has now rejected the prospect of bringing in the 32-year-old goalkeeper.

A tweet from Florian Plettenberg, a Sky Sports reporter, conveyed the developments: “FC Bayern will also not sign David De Gea. It’s decided. Tuchel has vetoed it, especially since a return of Manuel Neuer is expected within the next few weeks.”

The tweet continued: “As reported: Tuchel was pushing for (Manchester City deputy Stefan) Ortega and had a phone call with him – but the deal is close to being off now. Talks with De Gea took place. He was willing to join FC Bayern. But it’s off now.”
