EPL: Why Aina missed Nottingham Forest’s win against Sheffield United – Cooper

Nottingham Forest’s manager, Steve Cooper, has provided an update on Ola Aina’s absence from the club’s 2-1 home victory against Sheffield United on Friday night.

To the surprise of many, Aina did not make the matchday squad for the game held at the City Ground.

Although the 26-year-old had featured in Forest’s opening day defeat against Arsenal after joining the team on a free transfer the previous month, he was notably missing from the recent match.

Cooper explained that Aina had sustained an injury during training, which rendered him unfit for the Sheffield United match.

The 43-year-old manager expressed optimism that the versatile defender would recover in time to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the upcoming week.

Cooper commented, “He tweaked his groin in training a couple of days ago. We did everything we could to get him fit, but he didn’t quite make it.”

He continued, “It’s not serious. We’ll see for next week or maybe the cup game (against Burnley) after that. It’s nothing too serious, but it will rule him out for a little bit.”
