EPL: Owen Hargreaves reveals only worry for Chelsea, names Arsenal player they should’ve signed

Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves has shared his concerns about Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation for the upcoming season. He also emphasized that Chelsea should have pursued the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, especially in light of the departures of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Hargreaves expressed his thoughts on Chelsea’s goalkeeping dilemma during an interview with Premier League Productions. He highlighted the importance of having strong competition among goalkeepers and suggested that Raya’s abilities, particularly his adeptness with his feet, would have been a valuable addition to Chelsea’s squad.

Raya recently made a move from Brentford to Arsenal, strengthening the goalkeeping options at the latter club.

Hargreaves stated, “Anyone that has played with a goalkeeper knows they are different. David Raya is an amazing goalkeeper, his ability with his feet is that of a top-four goalkeeper all day.”

He continued, “I’m just amazed Chelsea didn’t go for him, because I think they are the ones who needed him badly.”

Hargreaves also expressed some concerns about Chelsea’s current goalkeepers, mentioning that while Sanchez is a good goalkeeper, the team has lost two solid options in Kepa and Mendy. He suggested that Chelsea’s goalkeeping position might appear less robust compared to before.

Hargreaves’ insights highlight the significance of having a strong goalkeeping contingent and the potential impact of transfer decisions on a team’s overall strength.
