EPL: Chelsea identify player to sign after Olise snub

Chelsea’s focus has shifted to potential signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest, following their unsuccessful attempt to secure Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Initial reports had indicated that Chelsea had reached an agreement on personal terms with Olise and triggered his £35 million release clause.

However, Olise surprised by committing to a fresh four-year contract with Palace, indicating his intention to stay beyond the current season and rejecting Chelsea’s advances.

In light of this, The Guardian now reveals Chelsea’s interest in Brennan Johnson, as negotiations for a possible deal begin to take shape.

Nottingham Forest places a valuation of approximately £45 million on the talented Welsh forward. To facilitate the transfer, Chelsea might propose a player exchange as part of the deal, aiming to entice the 22-year-old to join their ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea faces competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, both of whom have also expressed keen interest in acquiring the services of Johnson.
