EPL: Alan Shearer names teams to win title, finish runner-up this season

Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer, has predicted the top two positions in the Premier League for the current season. Despite the new season starting with Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Burnley, Shearer believes that Manchester City will once again clinch the Premier League title, with Arsenal securing the second spot.

Last season, Manchester City emerged as the Premier League champions, with Arsenal finishing in second place.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast with Gary Lineker, Shearer explained his reasoning, stating, “I would have them [Arsenal] in second position. I just think the quality that [Manchester] City have. I just expect City to do the same again, they may have a slow start or a little bit of a hangover. They proved they can recover from that.”

Shearer also acknowledged Arsenal’s potential to be strong contenders, citing their impressive signings as a key factor. He further emphasized that a club doesn’t make such significant investments with the aim of finishing in second place again.

This prediction by Shearer suggests that he foresees a closely contested race between Manchester City and Arsenal for the top position in the Premier League this season.
